Jeremy Todd featuring Elizabeth Milton, Graham Meisner & Pietro Sammarco

JEREMY TODD presents a new

NOT SENT LETTERS SET

featuring Vancouver-based interdisciplinary artists ELIZABETH MILTON, GRAHAM MEISNER & PIETRO SAMMARCO. The work incorporates performance, projections, live scoring, reading, audience engagement, play and letters letters selected from the project archive:

1.  To The Book I Could Write That No One Will Read (first letter)

2.  To Readers Of Not Sent Letters (third letter)

3.  To The Book I Could Write That No One Will Read (second letter)

ELISA FERRARI combines audio-visual and text fragments to examine the aporias that exist between past experience and present depiction, memory and narrative. For Not Sent Letters & Guests she debuts a performance that draws on her ongoing blog project and interest in secret languages.

MIRAE ROSNER & HEIDI NAGTEGAAL are Vancouver-based interdisciplinary artists who create and explore alternate economic and cultural models with horizontal responses to “building from the ground up.” Both work within Dance Troupe Practice (founded by Rosner) and the Hammock Residency (founded by Nagtegaal). Together they present BURN IT UP / BURN IT DOWN, utilizing everyday conversational language, hammers, nails, and 2x4s to form a sort of avant-garde punk band that addresses expectations around costume, identity, gender, and feminisms.

Special thanks to JACQUELYN ROSS (hosting arrangement and staffing), BEN WILSON (technical supervision), MEGHAN LATTA (cash bar), MATILDA ASLIZADEH (videography) and SARAH SHAMASH (photography).

NICK LAKOWSKI & NATHAN MATTHEWS are Vancouver-based artists who’ve dutifully collaborated over the past 10 years. Together they debut UNCERTAINTY AND A TENTATIVE WARD: What’s in a hug? If the frailty and failure of past human civilization (and the precarious course of current civilization) is merely one element within a rich, worldwide ecosystem that is inherently social and full of interrelation, perhaps it’s time the self-congratulatory embrace we give our collective experiment in modernity ends awkwardly, peters out, lapses into self-reflexivity. We’ve decided to look towards each other in anticipation of that lapse.

NANCY LEE (aka Which Nancy) is a Vancouver-based video artist and documentary filmmaker interested in the ways people perform and perceive identities. For Not Sent Letters & Guests she debuts a work featuring voice, projection and SEAN OH (aka Silence), co-founder and president of Chapel Sound, on turntables, exploring her struggle with understanding herself as a Taiwanese/Chinese-Canadian.

Digital Short Films

GRAHAM MEISNER, a Vancouver-based electronic music composer and videographer, debuts Down In The Conclave, a satirical piece dealing with the recent selection of the next Pope in the Vatican, and Drone Strike, featuring footage shot while on vacation in the Hawaiian Islands.

CHRISTINE D’ONOFRIO & SCOTTT CATOLICO collaborate on their first project together. Christine is an artist living and working in Vancouver. Scott is a musician once described by Exclaim! magazine as breaking “the OCD behind modern electronic music, giving it back a good dose of scope, personality and atmosphere.” They will debut a work featuring innate sounds and organic light diffraction artifacts – completely computer generated. Bizarrely, they blame it all on the sun.

ERIK RZEPKA is a Vancouver-based conceptual net artist and writer. For Not Sent Letters & Guests he debuts a work of video poetics dealing with virtual breakdown, medial saturation and the aesthetics of noise.
