Jeremy Todd w/ Graham MeisnerSpartacus Mission Statement The Spartacus Books Mission Statement: “We provide information and tools for social change and a forum for exchanges between a diversity of ideas and perspectives. We are a volunteer run workers’ collective that works in a non-hierarchical way that ensures participation is consensual. We provide our service to a community we love in a respectful, mindful way that values mutual aid and collective responsibility, and act in solidarity with individuals and groups involved in struggles for change that further our vision and support our values.”
NOT SENT LETTERS is an ongoing series of epistolary detours by JEREMY TODD involving image/text posts within a conventional blog format (since 2005), an online archive of digital film shorts based on them, and multi-media reading performances. This will be the third  reading performance by Jeremy, incorporating projected images and live electronic music composed and performed by GRAHAM MEISNER.

Spartacus Books Not Sent Letters Set (February 13, 2010):

MARGARET DRAGU is an interdisciplinary artist with a multi-personae disorder. Well known as Lady Justice (performance/video/www) Dragu also operates as VERB WOMAN employing Cage-ian chance operations and Beuys-ian social aktions. Seen frequently in the DTES performing VERB WOMAN: mending, Dragu was most recently at VIVO during the LIVE! Biennale in VERB WOMAN: a dance of forgetting (history, memory, loss of memory). For Not Sent Letters & Guests, Margaret will present VERB WOMAN: unraveling (romance and the anthemic). DONATO MANCINI is the author of two books of procedural and visual poetry, Ligatures (2005) and Æthel (2007), both from New Star books, both nominated for the ReLit Award. He also co-directed the world’s first genuine in-world avatar documentary AVATARA (2003), now part of the Ubu Web international archive of experimental film and video. Long time member of the Kootenay School of Writing, he was a principal organizer of the N 49 15.832 – W 123 05.921 Positions Colloquium in August 2008. His third collection of poetry, Buffet World, is due from New Star in 2010. Other publications, current and forthcoming, include a chapbook from BookThug, and poetry in The Capilano Review, Rampike, W, The West Wind Review, Parser and ditch. He works, lives and writes in Vancouver, BC. For Not Sent Letters & Guests, Donato will be reading a special selection of his work, accompanied by projections.

MATILDA ASLIZADEH works primarily in the mediums of video and photography and has exhibited her work internationally. Her video, Hero of Our Time, is currently on tour through Canada in a group exhibition titled Diabolique that explores various responses to, and representations of, war and violence. For her contribution to Not Sent Letters & Guests, Matilda will try to extract nuance and novelty from that most clichéd and ubiquitous image: the Hollywood celebrity promo shot.
